Back in October, 2014, Coats & Bennett, P.L.L.C. filed two United States Design Patents for modbox, one for the mailbox and a second for the mailbox and post. As discussed in the February blog post, a design patent is a form of legal protection granted to the “ornamental design” of a functional item. On August 11, 2015, Design Patent No. US D736,490 was issued for the MAILBOX. On September 15, 2015, Design Patent No. US D739,115 was issued for the MAILBOX AND POST. Very exciting!
